Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: Moments (10/12)

In comparison to the previous year, I can clearly remember instances of sheer joy and accomplishment for 2012. These memories will be remembered as the most definitive experiences I have had thus far.

Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: Trends (9/12)

2012 proved to be a compelling era. It was a year where the ambience of the world hinged on a word or an acronym. Actually, it was just another provocative year where the next craze would conquer dialogue.

Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: Short Cinema (8/12)

The world of media is so vast nowadays that we must re-evaluate the categories that films exist in. Music videos can have more of a narrative impact than some feature-length motion pictures. Independent productions can affect the world in more ways than a Hollywood budget. Thus, these are my favorite YouTube videos this year.

Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: Cuisine (7/12)

What is life without a nourishing meal? A rather bland existence, in my humble opinion. This year, I have been fortunate enough to sample delectable foods without having to go on arduous journeys to satisfy my appetite.

Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: Long Cinema (6/12)

This was a pretty good year for films and television series. Old ideas returned to bring new surprises, and it is safe to say the realm of motion pictures has been elevated to new, exciting heights.

Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: Places (5/12)

Sacramento is my city. I have crawled along nearly every corner and light, and it continues to amaze me each day. This year, I have found some new places, and deemed some old favorites as the best locations in town.

Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: Fashion (4/12)

Every year, one must aspire to update their wardrobe, if only to be rid of ill-fitting clothes. Before one dives into sartorial oceans, be aware of this year's permeating fashion statements.

†╫®§Ð¥ЋɌɰÐШⁿ 004: the final throwdown, or...

Hey, remember this? Back in my day, we ripped from the ghettoblaster, eagerly awaiting the moment when a song would play again. If we miscued the recording, we already knew that the song will come back on in about an hour. Nowadays, that is not quite the case, but the spirit holds true. This year, I listened to DJ mixes in lieu of tuning into the randomness of the pop roulette. If there is roughly 52 weeks in a year, I listened to about two different mixes per week depending on my habits. None should be surprised, but what the disc jockeys mixed were vaguely in line with the radio. The upcoming list are the tracks that were the most common in my library of 'mixtapes.' At least they were expressing some liberties in how to present the following songs:

Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: Technology (3/12)

I am not much of a geek, nor am I a technophobe; merely an observer of emerging concepts. This year we were introduced to many things that will positively change our way and understanding of life.

Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: People (2/12)

The feats and deeds of these notable figures inspired and entertained me throughout the past year. I take away a lot of wisdom and peace-of-mind when I read about the following 12 peoples' exploits.

Twelve Themes of Two Thousand Twelve: WORD (1/12)

Every year certain words become constituents of vernacular consciousness, further diluting our ability to communicate. Maybe some of the following words should be used more often, but most of them should be purged from common usage. Instead, diversify your speech patterns; make use of the internet to enrich the descriptiveness of your life.

†╫®§Ð¥ЋɌɰÐШⁿ 003b: After Tomorrow

Daze go by

...and when the collected perception of humanity realizes the weekend is finally here... we should relax a bit before we dance with Peril again. View these music videos not just for the stellar tunes, but the accompanying short films. Offered here are chill and sonic dramata, perfect for warm drinks under a comfy blanket. Maybe you are partied out; watch NONONO. The smooth pitch of Phlo Finister and Jessie Ware compliment the context-laden bravura of Damien Jurado and Dirty Projectors. Then feast upon the majesty that is Toro Y Moi, ending with one of my favorite bands of the year: Shadows On Stars.

†╫®§Ð¥ЋɌɰÐШⁿ 003a: Doomsdaywalkin

Get up, get down

Pick up your feet. Quicken the pace. The weekend won't get here until you make a move. If you are on a mechanized vehicle, loosen your neck because your head will very likely bob to the modest bass produced by Carnage on KYLE's track. Should you be the driver, try not to focus on the visual aspects in these videos, as they are rather entertaining. Instead, drum on the wheel or dashboard or headrest of the chair in front of you. Match the beat of Kid Cudi's "King Wizard" joint as you roll along. I suggest watching "She Sleeps" on a bus or train ride. If you are walking down the paved roads to your destination, snap your fingers to the sultry rhythm of Peace. And then, as you prepare for an End Of The World party, jam to Disclosure remixing Artful Dodger and the one and only Major Lazer. Go out with a bang!

†╫®§Ð¥ЋɌɰÐШⁿ 002: sCI-NEMA FICTIONs

Welcome to the Future, again.

2013 looks to be a breakthrough year for science fiction films, and understandably so. The next eight trailers feature hypergiant class star powahh. Will and Jaden Smith, Tom Cruise, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, RDJr, B-Pitt, IDRIS ELBASSZ? Yes, at least one hundred of my dollars will be set aside for these features. Let's get down to business.

†╫®§Ð¥ЋɌɰÐШⁿ 001: Indigestion Suggestion

Plug in or turn it up, dim the lights and exclude those outside distractions, because the next 45 minutes of your life will consist of visualized sounds and potentially graphic vocabulary. From A$AP Rocky to Py, these music videos encompass a range of genres for the week... something to get those elbows jabbin and toes swaying into the weekend.

Post-ice cream visual stimulation- Remedio Varos and others

Y'know, sometimes the universe replies to one's individual need for satisfaction. This time serendipity expressed itself as as a display of this person's work. I was eating cookies a la mode with my hot choco and within this timeframe decided to stumble for art; I needed a severe dosage of creative fuel. Ideas of surrealist mindscapes have called to me lately in these compact dreams I have in those anxious snippets of sleep I can claim.

Consensus

Social media, a preliminary survey. The databit minefield has been laid for a good decade now. Looking back, then forward (as people must do) brings a clarity of purpose. At least that is my hope. I read a chart of technological advances over the next century and it spelled out the volume of users that will be connected to the cloud. Staggering numbers.

As we say good-bye to white pants

It is a shame that holidays demand swift eradication for clothing concepts. However, let us continue fashionable rebellion into the frigid cycle of the new.

Doldrum drama

My brain is partly digitized and my heart doesn't even belong in this physical space. There is less to care about in reality than I remember. Other people make me unhappy and, as a supervillain, it would only be a matter of eradicating all humans from the universe unless the Batman of Earth-2 were to intervene in which case I will remain a law-abiding citizen.

Grease those cogs, neuron serfs.

Alluring. Amusing. Appealing. Arousing. Attractive. Beguiling. Captivating. Charming. Delightful. Enchanting. Engrossing. Enjoyable. Entertaining. Enticing. Enthralling. Fascinating. Gripping. Intriguing. Inveigling. Mesmeric. Pleasant. Provocative. Riveting. Seductive. Spellbinding. Stirring. Tantalizing. Winsome.

It is my opinion that the word, "interesting" has become illusory when expressing one's opinion about art. I can appreciate the succinct use to describe the work's effect, however it fails to distill any individual perspective (or, ideally, weltanschauung) other than a limited vocabulary. Up your game, humans.

Peaks and valleys, or, Take those ups with the downs

Head down, legs jammin. That's usually how I assault my days. Today, however, I experienced the first flat tire of the year. It certainly dampened my plan in anticipation of the coming rains. Just right outside my block, I hit the flat of Franklin blvd and was entering the cadence. Days of spin cycle training put me into this groove that activates once I see open horizon. So I burned my legs out to reach velocity. Of course, there's thousands of debris particles on the road. A glass shard embedded in the rear tire made quick work of my ambition. Not even a mile into the 5 mile ride to Ryan's house on the other side of Elk Grove. Walked my bummed ass home and got to work repairing the bike once again. It is a 1980-something Fuji road bicycle with a scuffed-out "Special Tou--" brand on the front tube. Got it at this hidden bike shop near Sac City called Flare Cycles.. which I will have to return to soon to get the rims trued after pedaling a hundred feet on a busted tire. In the immediate future, that just means I am forced into a day of physical recovery after lifting heavy free-weights yesterday. Boohoo. And here I wanted to see how many pull ups I could do in a minute at the Tiger Cage. Next time, muscles, you will be destroyed.

The Future is a Mesh Stallion!

Life is velocity now, and it is orienting in ascent; to zenith realms, to brave new worlds. These goals are believably achievable this century. Avante!

Repository Personal Factors

Spurred by Kevin and his related blog entry at eggsandjuice, I will attempt to list my referential library. This doesn't quite include manga volumes and individual issues of comics I have collected over the years... perhaps that will be another post.

The transforming palate at the boundary of distinction

Half a decade ago, I was exasperated by the predictability of statements made by people I interacted with. In those days, I had to steel myself for the inane dogmatism a common citizen exuded. Circa right-now, I am routinely displeased by questions posed. Most certainly when it is an inquiry given and increasingly those I make. The invasion of a person's thought processes is no longer appealing. In other words, stop asking for prosaic reports. Bare some teeth.
